Jonathan Stark

Alumni

Groundling alumni Jonathan Stark is from Erie, Pennsylvania. After receiving his B.A. in Art Education he migrated to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of acting and has since been seen in the films, ‘Fright Night’, ‘Project X’, ‘House II’ and with fellow Groundling Tim Stack in ‘Tales of the Crypt’. In 1991 he began writing for television, penning on such series as ‘Cheers’, ‘The Nanny’ ‘Drew Carey’ and “Ellen’ for which he won an Emmy and a George Foster Peabody Award for ‘The Puppy Episode’. In 2001 he co-created, with Groundling alum Tracy Newman, the hit sitcom ‘According to Jim’ which ran for 8 years and 192 episodes. He can currently be seen doing his improv thing at various venues around Los Angeles.
