Technical Director
Job Type: Full-Time
Annual Salary: $52,000-55,000
The Groundlings Theatre & School seeks an experienced, proactive Technical Director to join our organization. The Tech Director will bring technical production expertise and strong organizational skills to the day-to-day operations and management of our venues. The TD reports directly to the Managing Director and supervises the tech and music staff.
Responsibilities include:
Hiring, training, developing, and scheduling the technicians & musicians.
Maintaining and servicing sound and lighting units, board, instruments, mics, speakers, amplifiers, EQ’s and other equipment, in conjunction with sound, lighting, and crew staff.
Designing, coordinating, and executing any new construction, set pieces, props, or changes within our school, performance, and staff spaces.
Supervising and coordinating with a Part-time Facility Manager on regular maintenance work, such as carpet cleaning, plumbing maintenance, pest control, and HVAC maintenance and execution of special projects
Overseeing productions' technical development including prompt and effective communications between the directors, cast, and crew. Responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
Partnering with the Managing Director on tracking and planning monthly budget.
Building/finding props/set pieces for shows.
Subbing in for crew positions as needed.
Ideal Candidate Attributes:

Willingness to work some nights and weekends as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in production, experience with prop building a plus
Knowledge and experience with sound systems, lighting systems, and band setup
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Compensation & Benefits:
This is a full-time, salaried position, salary commensurate with experience.
PLEASE NOTE, this role will be part-time for training for the first 4 weeks, and we're looking to start someone in early June. LIGHT BOARD OPERATOR
Job Type: Part-Time Swing Shift Position
HOURLY RATE: $22.50-25.00
Qualified candidate must fit the following criteria:
Proficient in lightboard operation (specifically an ETC Express 48/96 lightboard).
Knowledge of programming; some programming may be done on the fly.
Live event lightboard operation.
Troubleshooting LED fixtures and working with DMX.
Ability to check and maintain lighting fixtures and replacing lamps and gels when needed. This is a part time position for Friday & Saturday afternoon/nights on an ongoing basis, with potential availability for additional shows on other nights.
Professional atmosphere, fast paced rehearsal process building cue lists and some on the spot editing. Previous experience in theater productions preferred, familiarity with improv and sketch comedy recommended. “Hands on” venue training prior to the start of scheduled shows. Shows with pre-show rehearsals can range from 5-8 hrs per night. Training dates TBD based on availability; all training hours paid. Non- Union.

Internships
The Groundlings Theatre and School offers quarterly internships to qualified candidates. Candidates must be full-time college students (junior, senior, or graduate school) earning college credit.
