Corporate Sales Coordinator

The Groundlings is seeking a proactive and results-oriented rock star to join our team. This is a part-time, year-round position with the potential to grow.

The Corporate Sales Coordinator oversees the booking and scheduling of corporate training events and serves as the key point of contact for new and existing clients. This role will professionally and positively serve as The Groundlings’ main representative in interactions with new and existing clients. This position relies on exemplary sales skills, strong communication, and customer service with clients, vendors, and staff to ensure seamless event execution with high integrity. 

Required Accountabilities & Deliverables:  

  • Ability to work autonomously with limited supervision

  • Grow and develop corporate clientele 

  • Meet monthly and annual revenue goals

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify prospective customers, lead generation and conversion

  • Contact new and existing customers to discuss needs

  • Answer questions about the products

  • Negotiate prices and terms, and prepare event agreements

  • Maintain contact lists and follow up with customers to continue relationships

  • Schedule events, as well as trainers, performers and other staff as needed for each event

  • Participate in the planning and implementation of annual school events, such as the School Open House, Diversity Festival and Master Class Fundraiser

  • Ensure that teachers and performers have adequate set-ups and materials

  • Participate in overseeing marketing efforts for private events

  • Other administrative duties as assigned 

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

  • 3+ years of event planning experience or similar scope of responsibilities 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and a self-starter mentality

  • Excellent sales skills and the flexibility to adapt to client needs

  • Experience with theatre or arts organizations

  • Ability to work creatively and independently with superior problem-solving skills

  • Forward-looking thinker who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with leadership, interns, staff, and board members

  • Ability to lead the coordination of cross-departmental efforts

  • Willingness to work some nights and weekends as required

Compensation:

This is a part-time, hourly position, pay range is $23-27 per hour.

Light Board Operator

Qualified candidate must fit the following criteria:

Proficient in lightboard operation (specifically an ETC Express 48/96 lightboard).

Knowledge of programming; some programming may be done on the fly.

Live event lightboard operation.

Troubleshooting LED fixtures and working with DMX.

Ability to check and maintain lighting fixtures; replacing lamps and gels when needed. This is a part time position for Friday & Saturday afternoon/nights on an ongoing basis, with potential availability for additional shows on other nights.

Professional atmosphere, fast paced rehearsal process. Building looks with on the spot editing. Previous experience in theater productions preferred, familiarity with improv and sketch comedy recommended.

“Hands on” venue training prior to the start of scheduled shows. Shows with pre-show rehearsals can range from 5-8 hours per night. Training dates TBD based on availability; all training hours paid.

Stage Manager - Non-Union

Qualified candidate must fit the following criteria:

Must be able to coordinate the start of show cues with box office staff and communicate cues effectively to actors, board operators, and musicians.

Must be able to coordinate with Actors and Technical staff to organize Theatrical Properties and ensure their creation is completed in a timely fashion. 

Has a working knowledge of theatrical blocking shorthand and ability to adapt to the use of improvised symbols.

Must be able to ascend/descend ladders and stairs, and work in confined spaces in proximity to speakers, stage lighting, and potentially loud theatrical equipment.

Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 30 pounds regularly, and must be able to position theatrical equipment and furniture onstage quickly in a dark environment.

Maintain Shure wireless microphones and mic packs during performances and be able to work with actors to apply wireless microphone packs for onstage use. 

This is a part time position for Friday & Saturday afternoon/nights on an ongoing basis, with potential availability for additional shows on other nights.

INTERNSHIPS

The Groundlings Theatre and School offers quarterly internships to qualified candidates. Candidates must be full-time college students (junior, senior, or graduate school) earning college credit.  Internships are approximately 24 hours per week for 10-12 weeks.
