Groundlings Assistant Technical Director (Part-time)

Assist the Technical Director with production and administrative tasks, including: 

  • Facilities Management

  • Technical theater 'jack-of-all-trades' - carpentry skills, lights, sound

  • Scheduling crew and third-party vendors

  • Coordinating vendors - quotes, contracts, etc.

  • Project management - prop and build requests, etc.

  • May require running errands (mileage reimbursed)

Hybrid role. Hours vary.

Rate: $22-$25 per hour

Events Coordinator

THE GROUNDLINGS THEATRE & SCHOOL, a leading non-profit improv theatre in Los Angeles, seeks an experienced, proactive Events Coordinator to join our organization. This person will bring energy and strong sales skills to booking and coordinating corporate trainings, private shows, and other myriad events. Excellent communication (both spoken and written) and strong organizational and people skills are a must.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify prospective customers, lead generation and conversion

  • Contact new and existing customers to discuss needs

  • Answer questions about the products

  • Negotiate prices and terms, and prepare event agreements

  • Maintain contact lists and follow up with customers to continue relationships

  • Schedule events, as well as trainers, performers and other staff as needed for each event

  • Participate in the planning and implementation of annual school events, such as the School Open House, Diversity Festival and Master Class Fundraiser

  • Ensure that teachers and performers have adequate set-ups and materials

  • Participate in overseeing marketing efforts for private events

  • Other administrative duties as assigned 

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

  • 3+ years of event planning experience or similar scope of responsibilities 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and a self-starter mentality

  • Excellent sales skills and the flexibility to adapt to client needs

  • Experience with theatre or arts organizations

  • Ability to work creatively and independently with superior problem-solving skills

  • Forward-looking thinker who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions

  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with leadership, interns, staff, and board members

  • Ability to lead the coordination of cross-departmental efforts

  • Willingness to work some nights and weekends as required

Compensation:

This is a part-time, hourly position, pay range is $23-27 per hour.

Groundlings School Associate / School House Manager (part time)

Perform administrative and office support activities for all adult and teen classes, including: 

  • process class registrations and payment plans

  • engage students and student questions

  • maintain the Groundlings School email

  • field telephone calls

  • greet and direct visitors and students

  • word processing, data entry 

  • prep and run student shows on the Gary Austin Student Stage

  • work with teachers and other Groundlings staff on various projects

Strong customer service and phone skills are essential, as is the ability to work with complicated sales and database software. Tessitura experience a plus. 

Schedule: Monday, 6:30 - 11pm. Additional shifts as scheduled. 

Rate: $19/hr

INTERNSHIPS

The Groundlings Theatre and School offers quarterly internships to qualified candidates. Candidates must be full-time college students (junior, senior, or graduate school) earning college credit.  Internships are approximately 24 hours per week for 10-12 weeks.
