Laura Ashley Foster

Sunday Company Alumni

Laura believes that she was raised to join The Groundlings Sunday Company in much the same way that the “Career Tributes” were raised to eventually join The Hunger Games. Her training began as a child in the suburbs of Alabama, where her Saturdays were bookended by episodes of PeeWee’s Playhouse and Saturday Night Live. As a teen, she was gifted the GOAT of high school theatre teachers, Donnie Bryan. It was this guy who first trained Laura in Groundlings-style improv and then sparked the madness you see before you by bringing her class to see a Groundlings show.

Laura went on to train at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. One morning, she accidentally auditioned for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and made it. Spoiler alert: she did NOT become a millionaire, but she does now know the answer to that question she missed.

After graduation, she spent a few more years in the NY arts scene before heading back to Alabama to direct children’s theatre and to focus on writing. Her feature comedy, Almost Edmund, reached the Second Round at Austin Film Festival and was a Finalist in the George Lindsay Film Festival. Feature drama, Shift, scored among the top 15% at the Nicholl’s Fellowship. Her half hour comedy pilot, Higher School, also Second Rounded at AFF, while her spec, The Middle: Grounded, was selected for the AFF/Nickelodeon script review. Regional theatre credits include Annie (Miss Hannigan), The Nerd (Tansy), and Harvey (Veta Louise Simmons).

Laura is beyond excited to perform with The Sunday Company!
