Richard moved to Los Angeles in 1976 to write and act and quickly found The Groundlings. He has written for situation comedies such as FULL HOUSE and variety shows, including 1985’s historic LIVE AID CONCERT. He has co-authored several screenplays, including the award winning family comedy HOW TO BEAT A BULLY. Richard had a five year run co-hosting several podcasts for Spotify, including UNEXPLAINED MYSTERIES and POLITICAL SCANDALS. Somewhere he found time to co-author a well-reviewed contemporary murder mystery novel, DISHONOR THY FATHER. Richard is married to Original Groundling, Rahla Kahn, whom he first met at a Groundling song improvisation class taught by Phyllis Katz. They are partners in their company, THE POWER OF PLAY, where they use improvisation as a transformational tool to help clients navigate life’s challenges. He is also on staff at The Simonton Cancer Center where he and Rahla teach cancer patients how to “Laugh more. Play hard. And die less!” Richard has found a new creative outlet with spoken word stories. He and Rahla have been celebrating the Groundlings’ 50th Anniversary with a year of monthly evening shows called LET’S STORY! He’s a busy boy with miles to go before he sleeps. (Thank you, Robert Frost, for helping me with that last line.)
